Dina El Kaisy Friemuth, “SOUL Series”, reading and talk
12 April 2025, 13:15
SOUL Stories (2021-ongoing) is a series of meetings, whose first iteration,” SOUL Stories / What cannot be said will be wept”, was presented at KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin, 2022) and its second: “I have flown to you like a child to her mother”, at Savvy Contemporary and Archive Books (Berlin, 2023) and has since travelled through different spaces and homes. During the evening, the artist would talk about what storytelling means in her artistic practice and read from the Zine SOUL which collects several of the artists projects, rendering them into a new archive of comics and texts and contributions by Maria Berríos, Agnieszka Roguski and Duygu Ağal among others. Artist’s mother, Maha El Kaisy, would also join the evening with yet another story to tell.
Zine SOUL is made in collaboration with graphic designer Sibel Beyer and funded by M1 Arthur Boskamp Stiftung and Berlin Programme for Artists. The Zine will be available for purchase in the evening.

Dina El Kaisy Friemuth is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice has expanded on issues and perspectives of decoloniality and feminisms. Her different projects involve decentralising art, rewriting art history and encouraging local activism. In her recent work she has worked in collaboration with her mother, Maha El Kaisy, creating environments that center feminist figures through storytelling and celebrating intergenerational dialogue.
